Overview:

What are mental health & mental illness? What makes them different? How can I improve my own mental health? What is the science behind self-care? How can I use this information to help those around me? If you are interested in having a discussion about the answers to these questions, and many more, then this course is a good fit for you. For the next four weeks, you will immerse yourself in the field of mental health and find yourself looking at the world through a new lens. In this course, we will develop individualized methods for improving your own mental health, study psychopathology, look at case studies of people living with psychological disorders, and study the relationship between social media and mental health.

Highlights:

  • Experience a hands-on understanding of mental wellness with a field trip to the Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine
  • Work with your peers to answer a specific question of your choice about mental health using empirical evidence, and present your findings as a final project
