Meeting Times Vary: please see course calendar

A finalized 2021 calendar will be sent to enrolled students by email in June

Please note: In addition to assignments and independent work, all courses have a morning and afternoon live class session. For students
joining from overseas, faculty will provide recordings of certain classes that can be watched a-synchronously at a more convenient time.
Participation, attendance and expectations for the course will be provided by your instructor.

Overview

Students will experience a wide range of engineering applications for a variety of engineering majors through designing, building, and testing their own projects, conducting research, completing homework assignments, and taking assessments. Students will work in teams to design, simulate, and build engineering projects. Students will use Asana.com for project management.

Highlights

  • Design a course that emulates escaping from a building after structural damage from a natural or man-made disaster
  • Design, build, and program a search and rescue robot to navigate the course using multiple sensors
  • Design, simulate, build, and test a structure
  • Create a monitoring circuit with timing that gives a warning to patients who are at a risk for certain health issues
  • Design and 3D print a prototype of a atmospheric carbon capturing device
  • Design, build, and launch a three-stage model rocket with the carbon capturing device as the payload

The course will also incorporate synchronous and asynchronous platforms.

The class gives an in-depth understanding of different areas of engineering to help (you) understand what you want to major in.
