Prepare for Online Instruction: Architecture & Engineering Courses

Before classes begin, students must be certain that the hardware, software and internet capabilities being utilized for online classes and coursework meet the minimum standards to access Zoom and Blackboard, listed below.

Engineering and Architecture courses use software that have higher minimum requirements. 3D Character Design and Creation, Explore Engineering and Exploration of Architecture require the following:

Computer Mac or PC made within the last four years
* Chromebooks cannot be used for Architecture or Engineering courses
Hardware Webcam with microphone (headset with microphone recommended)
Operating System Windows 10 (64-bit); Mac 10.13+
Processor 2.5GHz minimum,
3.0+GHz recommended
64 Bit Intel or AMD version
Memory 8GB, 16+ GB recommended
Browser Chrome/Firefox (current version of either)
Resolution 1920 x 1080 minimum
Graphics Card 1+GB GPU, 4+GB GPU recommended
Disk Space Available 10GB
Internet Speed >1.5Mbps+ up/down for internet speed

Students enrolled in Architecture and Engineering courses will be using specialized software to be used on your own computer. Enrolled students can access USC Cloud Apps for free (preferred). Students joining from China or outside of the US may want to source software using the alternative option linked below.

*Notice: Students who are sourcing software on their own, outside of USC ITS Cloud Apps, must use the software vendor’s technical support services. Summer Programs and USC ITS cannot support outside software or personal computer hardware.
